Abstract

The general meaning of philosophy is that it is a basic assumption used in thinking, feeling, and acting. Philosophy is the effort of humans to use their intellect to know or acquire something deeply. Philosophy is considered a view of life and applied philosophy is considered an ideology.

The definition of philosophy according to several experts includes: W.H. Kilpatrick said that philosophy discusses the opposite values of life. To philosophize is to think about the best and ideal values. Prof. Dr. MJ. Langeveld argues that philosophy is thinking about all the hosts radically and according to the system. Drs. Sidi Gazalba said that philosophy is a system of truth about everything that is questioned as a result of thinking radically, systematically, and universally.

The definition of Education according to several experts includes: John Dewey said that Education is a process of renewing the meaning of experience. H Horne says that Education is a continuous or eternal process of higher adjustment. Frederic J Mc. Donald said that Education is a process or activity directed to change human behavior. Drs. A.D. Marimba said that Education is conscious guidance by educators towards the formation of the main personality.

            The conclusion about the term philosophy of Education is a science that discusses Education in depth and systematically and comprehensively. Islamic education is education based on the teachings of Islam in order to foster and form Muslim individuals who are pious to Allah, love for parents, fellow man, and homeland. So the conclusion of the philosophy of Islamic Education is a science that discusses Islamic Education in depth, systematic, and comprehensive. The basis of the philosophy of Islamic education is the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
